Part one: high school classes
Your decisions in high school can set you up for great success in college. Did you know that you can even take some classes in high school that will give you college credit?! (P.S. That means less classes to take in college and less money!) Follow this module to plan some decisions in high school that will set you up for success in college.
- Go into your email/google drive and locate the document called, "High School Success."
- Create a footer and write your last name in the bottom-right corner.
- Find the website for the college you chose to research in the previous module. (Try a quick google search!)
- Locate the "Admissions" section on the college's website and look for a recommended high school course load. (Most college websites will have this, you may have to look around a bit and it may be called something different).
- In another tab, open the website for your planned high school and find their "Course offerings" section. (Once again, it may be called something else).
- Refer to both websites when responding to the prompts on the "High School Success" document.
part two: finding a high school job
Having a part-time job in high school can be a wonderful thing. You can earn and save your own money for the first time, gain a sense of pride, develop your work ethic, and start building relationships that could help you in the future.
- Go into your email/google drive and locate the document called, "Heading to Work."
- Create a footer and write your last name in the bottom-right corner.
- Read through this article to get an idea for some of the best jobs to have in high school.
- Decide on 3 different jobs you might be interested in.
- You can use this website to find some job openings at certain places, or you could find the company website. (For example: If you want to be a barista, you might go to the Starbucks website).
- Record your information in the "Heading to Work" document.
- Fill out an application for all three jobs, and save them to your drive.
